Dr Mark Gorbatov is a specialist eye surgeon who treats medical and surgical retinal conditions. His practice includes complex vitreoretinal surgery, intravitreal injections and the management of conditions affecting the retina and vitreous. He is a Fellow of RANZCO and holds specialist registration with AHPRA.

Dr Gorbatov assesses and treats a broad range of retinal conditions, including:
Emergency and planned vitreoretinal surgery to repair retinal tears and detachments.
Surgery for conditions that may cause central blur, distortion or loss of fine vision.
Surgical and medical management where bleeding or scar tissue affects the retina.
Management of dislocated lenses and selected complex cases requiring vitreoretinal surgery.
Assessment, retinal imaging and intravitreal treatment for suitable patients with wet AMD.
Dr Gorbatov graduated with Honours from the University of Sydney Medical School and received the University Medal. He completed specialist ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital, followed by advanced fellowship training in medical and surgical retina at the Lions Eye Institute in Perth and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital in the United Kingdom.
He is a consultant ophthalmologist and member of the Retinal Unit at Sydney Eye Hospital, where he contributes to complex retinal care and the training of retinal fellows, ophthalmology registrars, junior doctors and medical students.
His research interests include retinal imaging, macular hole surgery, vitreoretinal surgery and treatments for age-related macular degeneration. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and has participated in clinical trials involving retinal disease.
